Rory Fox, Catholic Memorial
A captain and quarterback, Rory has earned All State honors in both football & baseball. He also captained the football team to a State Championship this past season.
Along with his impressive academic record, Rory has been very active in the community in several service projects such as Top Soccer, St Mary’s Church Meal Program, St Mary’s Food Pantry, Thanksgiving Drive at CMH and the Schoenstatt outdoor program.
In his essay Rory states: “The most important and impactful lesson I will take away from my high school football career pertains to race. Football at CMH has served as a doorway to cultures different from what I knew prior to high school. I would often host teammates after Friday night games to make travel easier for Saturday morning practices. These gatherings allowed me to understand and appreciate those who come from a different culture and upbringing. I have made friends with these teammates and would even call some of them my brothers for life. An invaluable lesson learned is the content and quality of a person’s character defines them, not race, ethnicity, religion, or social standing. My brothers have shown me that, in life, we should celebrate what unites us.”
